ENCOURAGE

“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”

1 Thessalonians 5:11

Speakers

  • Sunday, August 10, Praise & Worship Morning Keynote Speaker, Sponsored by Baker Publishing

My earliest memory is learning John 3:16 from my mom, shortly before my brother led me to Christ on a Saturday night while playing board games.

Despite an early introduction to Christianity, I wasted years coasting on the second-hand information I learned about God and His Word from others. When I finally read through the whole Bible for the first time, it changed everything for me!

Because that was such a transformative experience for me, I spend my days doing things that help people read, understand, and love the Bible.

In 2009, I started D-Group (Discipleship Group) with a handful of college students, and it has grown into 300+ groups around the world. We meet weekly—online and in homes and churches—to dig deeper into books or topics from Scripture.

I also created and host a daily podcast called The Bible Recap, which aims to keep people connected to reading the Bible when they're tempted to quit for lack of understanding. I also have a daily radio spot called The God Shot.

I love to speak to audiences about God and His Word, and I write books with an aim to point others toward Biblical literacy.

A few times each year, I lead teaching trips to Israel where we study the Bible on site.

I love adventure, I dabble in flying trapeze, and I think every meal tastes better when eaten outside. I live in a concrete box in the skies of Dallas, TX, where I have no spouse, pets, or children—or anything else that might die if I forget to feed it.

  • Sunday, August 10, Dinner Banquet Speaker, Sponsored by HarperCollins Christian Publishing

Tanner is the author of four books, doesn’t take himself too seriously, drinks his coffee black, and cheers for the Orlando Magic. He lives in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife, son, and dog, Pancake.

  • Sunday, August 10, Dinner Banquet Performer

Matt Hammitt is a singer, songwriter, author, and speaker. Matt was the lead singer for the band Sanctus Real from 1996-2016. He has been the recipient of three Dove Awards and has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, for his work with Sanctus Real. Matt has written over fifteen chart topping songs, performed by Sanctus Real and other musical artists.

Matt’s latest single, “Church Hurt,” appeals to the heart of those who have hurt within families of faith, through a lens of hope and healing. As a companion to the song, Matt has written a seven-day devotional called Life After Church Hurt.

An Ohio native, Matt now lives in Nashville with his wife, Sarah, and their four children. Passion for family is what led him to step away from Sanctus Real in 2016, to spend more time at home. Matt details this difficult transition in his book Lead Me: Finding Courage to Fight for Your Marriage, Children, and Faith. Matt holds nothing back in this unfiltered story of his life, so far.

It’s AD 30 and everyone is expectantly awaiting the coming Messiah. While Jesus isn’t exactly what they imagined, there is something special about this man. Soon, John, James, Andrew, Peter, and their new friends begin to follow Jesus on an unexpected adventure. This beautiful, 2D-animated story of Jesus is told through the eyes of his beloved young friend, the Apostle John. From the beginning of Jesus’ ministry through his crucifixion and resurrection, LIGHT OF THE WORLD powerfully illustrates how Jesus of Nazareth changed the world forever and still changes lives today!
